Miami Marlins pitcher Max Meyer extended his unbeaten streak to nine games to start the season, leading the team to a 4-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday. Meyer delivered seven strong innings, allowing just two hits, issuing two walks, and recording five strikeouts in the opener of a three-game series.

Meyer remains the only qualified starting pitcher in Major League Baseball without a loss this season, improving his record to 9-0. The Marlins secured their third shutout in June, with relievers Michael Petersen and Calvin Faucher each contributing a scoreless inning to close out the game.

The Marlins entered the eighth inning tied at zero before finally breaking through against Cardinals reliever George Soriano, who holds a 3-2 record. Esteury Ruiz led off the inning with a single and then stole second base, setting the stage for Graham Pauley’s RBI double that put Miami on the board. Pauley had been recalled earlier on Friday from Triple-A Jacksonville. After a 27-minute rain delay, play resumed with Soriano still on the mound, and the Marlins extended their lead with Jakob Marsee adding two singles to drive in runs.

The win marked Miami’s third consecutive victory and improved their June record to a major league best of 17-5. The team continues to build momentum as the season progresses, fueled by strong pitching performances and timely hitting.
