Michael Douglas has disclosed that he was involved in cannabis trafficking during his youth, according to details shared in his autobiography, *One Helluva Ride*. The 82-year-old actor revealed that he used two suitcases originally belonging to his father, actor Kirk Douglas, to transport marijuana across the United States.
Douglas stated that each suitcase contained approximately 22 kilograms of cannabis. He purchased the drug in California for $75 per kilogram and sold it in New York, where his mother Diana Douglas resided, for $500 per kilogram. In his account, the actor said his initial expenditure of about $3,300 in California generated roughly $22,000 in New York, yielding a profit of $18,700.
Reflecting on this period in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Douglas acknowledged the potential for guilt but contextualized his actions within the times, emphasizing that drug use and trafficking were widespread. He noted that this enterprise was a means to fund his college education during those years.
Douglas, known for his roles in films such as *Wall Street* and *Fatal Attraction*, is married to actress Catherine Zeta-Jones.
