Michael Taliadoros, widely known as Mikey T, was a devoted AFC Wimbledon superfan and matchday commentator who passed away suddenly on October 4, 2026, at the age of 56 due to heart complications. His lifelong passion for football and unwavering dedication to the south London club made him a beloved figure among supporters and within the wider football community.

Born on September 17, 1970, in Balham, south London, to a Greek-Cypriot restaurateur father, George Taliadoros, and an Irish care worker mother, Sheila (née Cullinane), Michael developed an early obsession with football. As a child, he recreated commentaries using Lego footballers and authored his own fanzines. His remarkable memory was recognized during his early working years, which included roles at the Navy, Army, and Air Force Institutes (Naafi), a three-year stint at Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), and over 15 years in various positions at the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Taliadoros began attending Wimbledon games as a child in 1980 at the club’s original Plough Lane ground, witnessing their rise from the Fourth Division to the First Division in just five years. He was present at many historic moments, including Wimbledon's famous 1988 FA Cup victory over Liverpool. However, the club faced significant changes as it moved away from its traditional home, first relocating to Crystal Palace’s Selhurst Park in 1991 and later, controversially, being relocated to Milton Keynes and renamed MK Dons. In response, Taliadoros and other supporters rejected the new incarnation and instead helped establish AFC Wimbledon in 2002, a fan-owned club that reclaimed the team’s original spirit.

Mikey T was renowned not only for his passion but also for his accuracy and distinctive commentary style. He attended over 2,000 consecutive matches dating back to 1989 and was a founding member of Radio WDON, providing matchday commentary characterized by a mix of surreal humor, soul music references, and sharp football insight. Known for his photographic memory, he would recall player details and team line-ups from decades past with ease. His commentary during AFC Wimbledon’s progress through the leagues became a defining feature, and he notably referred to MK Dons as "the franchise," reflecting the fans' sentiments about the club's controversial relocation.

His warm personality and distinctive voice endeared him to fans near and far, with Radio WDON attracting listeners worldwide, including California, Paraguay, and Norway, where an AFC Wimbledon-themed pub exists. Taliadoros made a poignant trip to this pub shortly before his death, moving local regulars deeply.

Ivor Heller, AFC Wimbledon's founder and commercial director, reflected on Taliadoros’s significance, noting his reliability and steadfast support regardless of the team’s results. Taliadoros never sought financial gain from his work, often enduring harsh weather conditions in exposed commentating positions for the love of the game and the club.

Michael Taliadoros left behind a legacy of dedication and affection for AFC Wimbledon, embodying the spirit of fan ownership and grassroots football culture that the club represents.
