The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) has implemented a midday work ban across all private sector establishments in Saudi Arabia, effective from June 15 through September 15. This regulation prohibits employees from working under direct sunlight during peak heat hours in the summer months.

The ban is designed to protect workers from the adverse health effects associated with exposure to extreme heat and sunlight, particularly given the high temperatures commonly experienced across the country during this period. Employers in the private sector are required to comply with the directive to ensure the safety and well-being of their employees.

The regulation applies nationwide and includes all private-sector workplaces where employees might be exposed to sunlight during the prohibited hours. The government’s move aligns with broader efforts to enhance labor conditions and safeguard worker health amid challenging climatic conditions.

Employers failing to adhere to the midday work ban may face penalties as stipulated by Saudi labor law. The MHRSD has urged businesses to adjust operational hours or implement other measures to minimize risk to workers during the summer months.
