Middlesex secured a comprehensive 141-run victory over Worcestershire on the final day of their four-day county match at Worcester. The win earned Middlesex 21 points, while Worcestershire collected 4.

Middlesex posted a strong first innings total of 339 runs, highlighted by J L du Plooy’s 85, S D Robson’s 70, and an unbeaten 58 from captain S H B Morgan. Worcestershire bowlers W Finch and B M J Allison shared eight wickets between them, taking four each for 93 and 77 runs respectively. In response, Worcestershire managed 265 in their first innings, anchored by M J Waite’s 69. Middlesex pacer T S Roland-Jones was the most effective bowler, capturing four for 41.

Declaring their second innings at 283 for six, Middlesex’s du Plooy reached a century unbeaten on 101, complementing the earlier contributions from Robson and Morgan. Setting Worcestershire a challenging target, Middlesex looked to apply further pressure in the chase.

Worcestershire began their second innings on 33 for two overnight but struggled to build partnerships. Gohar emerged as the key bowler for Middlesex, taking six wickets for just 31 runs across 23 overs, consistently troubling the Worcestershire batsmen. B M J Allison top-scored with 89 before falling to Gohar, while other batsmen found little success against the disciplined attack. Extras proved costly, contributing 36 runs to Worcestershire’s total of 216 all out from 84 overs.

The fall of wickets throughout the innings indicated a collapse, with Worcestershire losing wickets regularly, including early dismissals and tight bowling spells from Roland-Jones and Morgan. The final wicket fell with Worcestershire still 141 runs short of the target, sealing a comprehensive Middlesex victory.
