Andrew Cornish, the chief executive of Middlesex County Cricket Club, has been dismissed following a misconduct hearing after allegations against him were upheld by an independent disciplinary panel.

Cornish was suspended in November 2025 after the club received a complaint concerning his conduct towards a fellow staff member. The matter was referred to the Cricket Regulator, the sport’s independent disciplinary authority, which subsequently charged Cornish with misconduct. The case was brought before the Cricket Disciplinary Panel (CDP), a three-person panel that ruled against him. The allegations do not involve criminal activity and have not been referred to the Metropolitan Police. Cornish has denied any wrongdoing and is reportedly considering legal action.

Middlesex officially confirmed Cornish’s departure in a statement, noting he was dismissed in June 2026. Since his suspension, the club has been managed by two interim chief executives: Mahdi Choudhury, the MCC’s chief operating officer, and Julie Harrington, former head of British Cycling. Harrington, considered a possible permanent successor, is scheduled to meet club members alongside Middlesex chair Richard Sykes at a fans’ forum next week, where updates on the club’s leadership are expected.

Cornish became involved with Middlesex in 2020 as a consultant to then-chief executive Richard Goatley before succeeding him in 2021, following Goatley’s resignation due to ill health. Prior to Middlesex, Cornish served as chief executive of Somerset County Cricket Club until 2019 and also held a leadership role at Manchester Airports Group. His tenure at Middlesex coincided with a challenging period for the club, marked by significant financial losses and an ongoing legal dispute with Goatley, who is pursuing a personal injury claim against the club seeking over £1 million.

The financial troubles at Middlesex have attracted regulatory scrutiny. In September 2023, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) imposed a suspended points deduction and a £50,000 fine on the club for breaches of financial regulations, including the misuse of central funding. Furthermore, the club faced additional charges of improper conduct by the Cricket Regulator in June 2024 related to complaints against another senior employee. However, Middlesex was found not guilty by the CDP in that matter.

Cornish declined to comment on his dismissal or the ongoing proceedings.
