Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr has received a six-month driving ban after admitting to speeding in a London 20mph zone. The 24-year-old Senegal international was recorded driving a Mercedes at 25mph in February, shortly after Tottenham suffered a 4-1 home defeat to Arsenal.
Sarr was initially offered the option to resolve the matter through a fixed penalty fine in June but failed to pay, leading to a formal criminal prosecution. Despite submitting images of Sarr’s driving licence that were deemed unreadable by the court, the Metropolitan Police prosecution proceeded.
During the hearing, Sarr entered a guilty plea and did not provide any mitigating circumstances. He supplied contact details for a Tottenham official but did not attend the court in person.
The midfielder has been a regular presence in Tottenham’s lineup, with over 100 appearances for the club. In a recent development, he was loaned to Juventus last month.
