A 62-year-old woman was reportedly startled when a man broke into her flat in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta and got into bed alongside her. The incident occurred early in the morning on the fifth floor of her residence, where the intruder was found wearing only underpants. The woman’s screams alerted her husband and son, who were nearby preparing breakfast. The man then fled by jumping onto a neighboring rooftop but was subsequently apprehended by local police.

Authorities have identified the suspect as one of the estimated 72,000 migrants who crossed into Ceuta from Morocco by swimming last week. While the majority of those migrants have since returned across the border, this individual appeared to have remained in the area and was reportedly sleeping rough prior to the break-in.

The woman, Beatriz Ferron, described the experience as a “nightmare” and expressed relief that she was not alone at the time. Her son, Nacho, voiced frustration over the situation, questioning how long such incidents would continue.

This event takes place amid heightened concerns about a potential new wave of migrant arrivals expected around August 15. Ceuta, a Spanish territory on the north coast of Africa, has been a focal point for irregular migration from Morocco in recent weeks, leading to increased tension and security challenges in the enclave.

The intruder now faces charges related to breaking and entering as authorities continue to manage the evolving migration situation in the region.
