Mikko Rantanen recorded his 11th career regular-season hat trick, including a decisive power-play goal at 3:52 of overtime, to guide the Dallas Stars to a 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night in Dallas. Rantanen’s game-winning goal came on a close-range backhand shot that lifted the puck over Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman, securing the Stars’ third consecutive win after a 2-3-1 start to the season.

Jason Robertson contributed two assists for Dallas, one of which set up the overtime winner, while goaltender Jake Oettinger made 18 saves in the victory. The Stars trailed or were tied throughout regulation, as they had yet to lead during the game before the overtime goal.

For Boston, Matt Poitras and James Hagens each scored, with Swayman stopping 22 shots. The Bruins extended their unbeaten streak in regulation to six games (5-0-1) but ended their four-game road trip with a 3-0-1 record.
