Anna Nordqvist, captain of the European Solheim Cup team, has announced four wildcard selections for the upcoming competition, set to take place from September 11 to 13 at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands. The picks include England’s Mimi Rhodes and Ireland’s Leona Maguire as captain’s selections, along with Spain’s Julia Lopez Ramirez and France’s Nastasia Nadaud as additional wildcards.

Rhodes, 24, was named the Ladies European Tour (LET) Rookie of the Year in 2025 after winning three tour events, achievements that helped secure her place on the team. She described her selection as fulfilling a long-held dream, saying it "is beyond anything I imagined."

Maguire, 31, has been a significant contributor to Europe’s Solheim Cup efforts in previous years, having earned 8.5 points from 12 matches. Despite a challenging 2026 season marked by missed cuts in four of five major tournaments and currently ranked 83rd globally, Nordqvist emphasized the importance of Maguire’s experience and competitive spirit. “I would rather play alongside her than against her,” Nordqvist said, highlighting Maguire’s matchplay record and previous Solheim performances.

Maguire acknowledged the personal significance of the event, saying, "I love the Solheim Cup; it brings the best out of my game, and I love being part of the team." This tournament will mark her fourth appearance representing Europe.

The other wildcards include Lopez Ramirez, a 23-year-old from Málaga who is yet to claim a professional victory but expressed excitement at her maiden call-up, describing it as “living the dream.” Nadaud, meanwhile, recently recorded a win on the Ladies European Tour at an event in Andalusia, adding further strength to the European roster.

In addition to these wildcard entrants, the European team’s automatically qualified players include Charley Hull, Esther Henseleit, Lottie Wood, Maja Stark, Linn Grant, Céline Boutier, Carlota Ciganda, and Nanna Koerstz Madsen. Nordqvist has expressed particular optimism for Henseleit, noting her strong recent form, including a close runner-up finish at the Women’s Open.

Across the Atlantic, the United States team has secured early automatic qualifiers such as Angel Yin, Jennifer Kupcho, and Nelly Korda, with captain Angela Stanford expected to announce three captain’s picks after the qualifying period concludes in late August.

As the Solheim Cup approaches, the European squad combines a blend of youthful talent and seasoned experience, aiming to reclaim the trophy from the United States at Bernardus Golf.
