The Attorneys’ Admission Committee convened yesterday under the leadership of HE the Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali al-Mohannadi. The meeting addressed several matters concerning the admission and registration of legal professionals in the country.

During the session, three new lawyers took the legal oath upon completing their mandated training period, officially qualifying them to practice law. The committee also reviewed applications from candidates with equivalent professional experience seeking registration in the roll of practicing lawyers, as well as applications for entry into the trainee lawyers’ roll.

Additionally, the committee evaluated requests from three candidates aiming to complete their training period to become eligible for legal practice. It approved the transfer of two lawyers from the non-practicing roll to the practicing roll. Furthermore, the committee considered applications for transferring lawyers to the roll of practicing lawyers authorized to appear before higher courts, including the Court of Appeal and the Court of Cassation.

In addition to individual admissions, the committee discussed broader regulatory issues pertaining to the legal profession. These included reports from several subcommittees and deliberations on a proposed memorandum regarding the administration of the legal oath to non-Qatari lawyers. The discussions reflect ongoing efforts to maintain professional standards and to potentially broaden the scope for foreign-trained legal practitioners within the country’s judicial system.
