Qatar’s Minister of State for International Co-operation, Dr. Maryam bint Hassan al-Misnad, participated in a virtual session on October 12 with children from the Noor orphan care programme in the Gaza Strip. The meeting provided an opportunity for the minister to engage directly with the children, gaining insight into their perspectives, interests, and hopes for the future.

The session, held via videoconference, underscored the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment for children living in Gaza, enabling them to pursue education and personal development despite the region’s challenging conditions. Dr. Maryam emphasized the need to empower these children as part of broader efforts to foster stability and opportunity within the area.

The event was also attended by Dr. Nabil Qaddumi, chairman of the board of Taawon (Welfare Association), along with several other officials. The participation of key representatives from the Welfare Association highlighted continued regional engagement aimed at supporting vulnerable populations in Gaza through educational and social programs.

The Noor orphan care programme is part of ongoing initiatives to address the social and humanitarian needs of children affected by conflict and economic hardship in Gaza. By facilitating direct dialogue between policymakers and beneficiaries, such sessions aim to tailor support strategies to the children’s expressed needs and to encourage their active involvement in shaping their futures.
