Kuwait’s Minister of Education, Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, participated in a series of virtual classes on Saturday to evaluate the educational system's preparedness for distance learning. The sessions, conducted via Microsoft Teams, were part of a one-day pilot program organized by the Ministry of Education to test the effectiveness of online instruction and related technical and organizational arrangements.
During the virtual visits, Al-Tabtabaei observed student engagement and confirmed that lessons were held according to scheduled times. The ministry stated that this direct monitoring enabled the minister to assess the system's readiness firsthand. School administrations were instructed to closely track any difficulties encountered by students throughout the trial period and to promptly address these issues.
Speaking about the exercise, Al-Tabtabaei emphasized the necessity of maintaining continuity in education by being ready to switch to remote learning whenever necessary. He highlighted the importance of cooperative efforts among families, schools, educational authorities, and relevant bodies to ensure smooth implementation. The minister also commended parents for actively supporting and supervising their children’s involvement in the virtual classes, as well as appreciating teachers and school staff for their commitment to creating conducive learning environments.
The ministry confirmed that the pilot program successfully demonstrated the capacity of schools, students, and educational institutions to utilize the online platform effectively. Officials reported no significant disruptions during the monitored classes, which adhered to the established procedures. The trial aimed not only to confirm operational readiness but also to identify challenges faced by students and educators, allowing for improvements to be made.
The Ministry of Education indicated its intention to continue gathering feedback and observing the system’s performance in future trials to enhance the resilience and flexibility of Kuwait’s educational framework. These efforts form part of a broader strategy to ensure that the country’s education sector can adapt rapidly and maintain its functions under various circumstances.
