KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait’s Minister of Justice, Counselor Nasser Al-Sumait, emphasized the importance of integrity and responsibility in the Public Prosecution during a meeting with newly nominated legal researchers on May 17. The meeting, held at the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies, marked the beginning of a six-month training course aimed at preparing the candidates for their roles as public prosecutors.

Al-Sumait described the work of the Public Prosecution as a solemn trust closely tied to safeguarding citizens’ freedoms, rights, and dignity. He urged the trainees to maintain high standards of integrity, impartiality, discipline, and commitment to the rule of law throughout their service.

The training initiative aligns with Kuwait’s broader strategy to nationalize the judiciary by fostering qualified local talent. Al-Sumait highlighted that the next stage of the program demands serious dedication and readiness from the participants to assume judicial responsibilities effectively.

In a notable addition to this year’s curriculum, the course will incorporate a specialized program in international humanitarian law, marking its first inclusion in the training process. This component aims to equip candidates with advanced legal knowledge, enabling them to handle both domestic and international legal matters. Successful completion will also allow participants to earn a certified trainer certificate, reflecting the country’s efforts to elevate legal expertise and judicial preparedness in a global context.
