Qatar's Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Saad bin Sherida al-Kaabi, emphasized the importance of developing national talent to strengthen leadership within the country’s energy sector. Speaking at the 26th Annual Qatarisation Review Meeting, which brought together senior executives and representatives from companies involved in the energy sector’s strategic Qatarisation plan, the minister highlighted the role of national workforce development in enhancing institutional resilience and ensuring operational continuity amid fluctuating conditions.

Minister al-Kaabi commended energy companies for their adaptability and resilience in responding to rapidly changing and unpredictable challenges, while maintaining a strong focus on worker safety. He underscored the strategic significance of Qatarisation — the initiative to increase Qatari participation in the workforce — as the energy sector continues to build on recent achievements and secure business continuity.

The minister stressed that Qatarisation efforts should extend beyond mere numerical targets to focus on attracting and retaining skilled national talent. He pointed to the necessity of developing programs that support Qatari professionals in pursuing meaningful career paths, thereby ensuring the availability of qualified nationals capable of assuming leadership roles in the present and future.

As part of the meeting, al-Kaabi presented the annual Qatarisation crystal awards recognizing exemplary contributions by companies in the energy sector. Nakilat received an award for its cooperation with the education sector, Qatar Shell for its support of Qatarisation, North Oil Company for its commitment to learning and development, and QatarEnergy LNG was honored for showing the most progress in Qatarisation.

Additionally, the minister handed out Qatarisation certificates to companies demonstrating significant improvement over the previous year. The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) was recognized for its engagement with the education sector, Oryx GTL for its efforts in supporting Qatarisation, and Qatar Fuel Additives Company (Qafac) for advancing learning and development initiatives.

Minister al-Kaabi reiterated the energy sector’s dedication to aligning with the human development goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, underscoring Qatarisation as a key pillar in securing a robust and sustainable workforce.
