Kuwait’s Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Hadi Al-Huwaila, has pledged strict enforcement of regulations governing the boards of directors of cooperative societies across the country. Speaking on November 1, Dr. Al-Huwaila emphasized that adherence to the ministry’s decisions and circulars is compulsory, leaving no room for discretion or noncompliance.
The minister underscored the importance of implementing Kuwaitization policies, which prioritize the employment of Kuwaiti nationals, in line with directives set by the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM). She also highlighted the necessity of maintaining high standards of cleanliness in cooperative societies and central markets, alongside guaranteeing the quality and safety of goods offered to consumers.
Dr. Al-Huwaila warned that any boards found violating ministerial regulations or requirements could face decisive consequences, including the possibility of dissolution under the law. She made clear that the ministry intends to intensify oversight through ongoing field inspections and will no longer tolerate lapses or delays in enforcement.
“The era of issuing warnings without follow-up action has ended,” the minister stated, affirming that accountability measures would be applied strictly and without exception to ensure full compliance. This stance reflects a broader government effort to uphold regulatory standards and protect consumer interests within Kuwait’s cooperative sector.
