Kuwait’s Ministry of Higher Education announced on Saturday the acceptance of 2,704 high school graduates into its overseas scholarship program for the 2026-2027 academic year. The selected students come from public, private, and international schools and represent graduates from the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic years.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education Dr. Bader Al-Basiri stated that the scholarship initiative aligns with directives from Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Nader Al-Jallal to improve the quality and outcomes of overseas scholarships through a strategic review of the specializations offered. Priority fields include future-oriented and strategic disciplines such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, advanced technologies, as well as medical and allied health programs. The aim is to cultivate a new generation of qualified national talent equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet future challenges.

The application review and selection process was conducted via an integrated system intended to ensure efficiency, transparency, and adherence to governance principles. Selections were made based on approved criteria including equivalent grade point averages for medical and engineering tracks, high school percentages for other disciplines, applicants’ ranked preferences of up to eight chosen study options, and the availability of seats at accredited universities abroad.

The ministry will organize orientation sessions on July 13 and 14 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, as part of the third phase of the national "Guide Me" campaign. These sessions will involve representatives from the Ministries of Interior and Health, alongside officials from the ministry’s Scholarship Sector. The briefings are designed to guide students on post-acceptance procedures, prepare them for studying overseas, and address any questions. Accepted students will receive text messages indicating their assigned attendance times.

Students are required to complete all post-acceptance procedures within 60 days of the announcement to fulfill scholarship requirements within specified deadlines. The ministry also encouraged accepted students to monitor its official platforms for ongoing updates and instructions related to the scholarship process.

Dr. Al-Basiri highlighted that pursuing an overseas scholarship is a national responsibility demanding academic excellence, innovation, and a commitment to generating knowledge. He urged students to take full advantage of the educational and research opportunities available at leading international universities.
