The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) inaugurated a new interactive learning space at Al Hidaya School for Special Needs Primary School Boys and Girls in Doha, aiming to enhance educational services for students with disabilities. The ceremony, held recently, was attended by HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid AlKhater, along with several assistant undersecretaries and other ministry officials.
The newly established facility is part of the Ministry’s broader initiative to modernize educational environments for students with special needs, fostering their development through advanced pedagogical methods. The Department of Special Education and Inclusive Education led the project, retrofitting the space and developing tailored educational programs to meet the sensory and developmental requirements of students receiving special education services.
Latifa Saad al-Nuaimi, Principal of Al Hidaya School for Special Needs Primary School Boys and Girls, emphasized that the establishment of these interactive chambers reflects a fundamental belief in the inherent potential of every student. She highlighted the importance of providing an educational setting that respects and addresses diverse learning needs.
Among the key components of the new facility is the Immersive Reality Room, which uses digital technologies to simulate real-life experiences. This room offers an interactive learning environment designed to improve students’ knowledge, motor skills, and communication abilities by closely connecting educational content with practical, experiential learning.
Additionally, the project includes a fully integrated sensory room, customized to suit individual students’ needs. This space delivers sensory stimulation and assists with emotional regulation to support attention, focus, communication, and interaction, ultimately enhancing student readiness for various educational activities.
Another notable feature is an ultraviolet illumination room aimed at improving visual and spatial awareness through safe, guided sensory exercises. The school also introduced a chamber dedicated to Assistive Technology, showcasing a range of educational tools and devices such as interactive carpets and sensory tents. These innovations are intended to make learning more dynamic by combining movement, exploration, and sensory engagement.
This initiative highlights MoEHE’s commitment to advancing inclusive education and expanding support services for learners with disabilities. It aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, which prioritizes investment in human capital and the provision of equitable and comprehensive educational opportunities to empower individuals and drive national development.
