The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) in Qatar has introduced a new digital service called the Regulatory Record Report, designed to provide consumers and businesses with key compliance information about companies. The service aims to support informed decision-making prior to entering contractual agreements, while upholding legal and regulatory frameworks that protect the rights of both consumers and companies.

The launch of the Regulatory Record Report is part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to advance digital transformation, enhance transparency, and reinforce regulatory oversight within Qatar’s business environment. By offering an official and reliable source of company compliance data, the service seeks to reduce dependence on unofficial or potentially inaccurate information, thereby increasing confidence in commercial transactions.

The report offers detailed data about companies, including their names, license numbers, licensed business activities, and current license statuses. Additionally, it features compliance indicators such as the number of complaints received, recorded violations, instances of administrative closure, classifications of complaints, and response rates to those complaints.

Access to the report is governed by two consent-based mechanisms. One allows companies to provide prior written consent for their information to be disclosed, with such consent documented and archived according to approved procedures. The second mechanism requires that consent be obtained at the time a consumer requests the report; in this case, the company is notified and must approve the disclosure before the information is shared.

Users can obtain the Regulatory Record Report by visiting the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s website, navigating to the Digital Platform Services, logging in through the Tawtheeq system, and selecting the Compliance Record Report under the inquiries section.

This initiative by the MoCI is expected to increase transparency in the commercial sector and enhance trust between consumers and businesses by providing verifiable compliance data. Ultimately, it aims to empower consumers to make more informed choices when engaging with companies in Qatar’s marketplace.
