Qatar’s Ministry of Culture has received the highest level of accreditation from the Global Innovation Institute (GInI) for its This Is Qatar encyclopaedia, marking a significant institutional achievement. The Innovation Endorsement - Tier 3 recognition highlights the encyclopaedia’s innovative approach to cultural and knowledge dissemination, as well as the ministry’s success in applying innovation to deliver measurable practical outcomes.
Launched at the opening of the 35th Doha International Book Fair, the This Is Qatar encyclopaedia is designed as a modern knowledge and documentation platform. It presents Qatar’s history, cultural identity, and national achievements through an integrated system that combines knowledge-based content, historical records, multimedia elements, interactive features, and contemporary content-presentation methods. This approach aims to broaden access to Qatar’s cultural heritage, reaching different societal groups and supporting multiple languages.
The Ministry of Culture emphasized that receiving this international accreditation demonstrates its dedication to embedding innovation as a core component of cultural work. It underlines efforts to develop sustainable cultural and knowledge-based projects by employing advanced technologies and new methodologies for content creation and dissemination.
Officials at the ministry noted that this accomplishment is part of a larger strategic vision to advance national cultural projects. The Global Innovation Institute acknowledged Qatar’s Ministry of Culture as the first government ministry in the country to achieve the Innovation Endorsement - Tier 3 status for one of its projects.
