The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy in Kuwait is set to award a contract worth KD 84.667 million for the supply and installation of 400 kV overhead power transmission lines. The decision follows approval from the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) granted on March 5, with the final contract pending confirmation from the State Audit Bureau (SAB).
The contract will be awarded to the successful bidder once authorized by the SAB, with the selected company responsible for the execution, warranty, maintenance, and training linked to the project, all in accordance with the detailed technical specifications outlined in the contract documents.
The transmission line project aims to link the Shagaya Z solar power substation with the Subiya power station, facilitating the integration of electricity generated by photovoltaic panels at the Shagaya Renewable Energy Complex into Kuwait’s national grid. This connection is intended to support the country’s renewable energy infrastructure by enabling efficient transmission of solar power.
The total project duration is planned for 24 months, including a preparatory phase of three months that will begin after the contract is signed. This timeline reflects the ministry’s broader efforts to enhance power transmission capabilities and expand renewable energy utilization within the national grid.
