The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy in Kuwait is advancing efforts to boost its electricity and water production capacity through a range of projects and initiatives. The ministry is working with relevant entities to implement several projects, including those awarded via tenders through the Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP), as well as projects it plans to execute directly.
A key focus is addressing the challenges associated with decommissioning the aging South Shuaiba and East Doha power generation and water desalination plants. The ministry intends to replace these older facilities with new infrastructure designed to enhance production capacity and meet growing demand.
In a related development, the State Audit Bureau (SAB) has approved an extension of the security contract covering the main electrical substations and overhead transmission lines managed by the ministry’s Electrical Transmission Networks Sector. The extended contract is valued at KD228,100.
The ministry is also set to launch an integrity campaign called ‘Adaa’ (Performance) starting Sunday, in cooperation with the Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha). The campaign will run until late March 2027 and is focused on enforcing the Code of Conduct for government employees. It aims to foster integrity, transparency, and professional ethics within the workplace.
According to the ministry, the campaign is part of its broader commitment to uphold professional values and workplace standards, improve institutional performance, enhance the work environment, and raise the quality of services provided. Employees have been encouraged to engage with the campaign by following its dedicated Instagram account, @MEWSTAFF.
