KUWAIT — The Ministry of Health has highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration with the academic sector to advance medical education, research, and training in Kuwait. Sheikh Dr Salman Khalifa Abdullah Al-Sabah, Undersecretary of the Ministry and member of the Abdullah Al-Salem University Council, emphasized this cooperation during a council meeting held recently.

The meeting, which marked Sheikh Dr Salman’s inaugural participation as a council member, focused on preparations for the opening of Abdullah Al-Salem University’s College of Medicine. The college is scheduled to admit its first group of students in the 2026–2027 academic year. Discussions addressed both academic and administrative measures required to ensure the college’s readiness for launch, aligning with national priorities to develop the medical education sector and address future healthcare needs.

Sheikh Dr Salman’s appointment to the university council is seen as a step toward reinforcing the ties between the Ministry of Health and the academic institution. The relationship is supported by a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation in educational programs, clinical training, and scientific research efforts. These initiatives are designed to contribute to national development goals by preparing qualified medical professionals to meet Kuwait’s healthcare demands.

The ministry described the collaboration as a continuation of the institutional partnership between the two entities, reflecting shared efforts to improve the quality of medical education and healthcare services. The strategic cooperation also underscores the commitment to building a skilled national workforce capable of advancing the country’s health objectives.
