KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior announced the launch of a comprehensive security awareness campaign titled “Prevention and Safety,” scheduled to coincide with the start of the new academic year. The initiative aims to enhance public security and community awareness throughout the school year.

Brigadier General Nasser Bouslaib, Director General of the Public Relations and Security Media General Department, outlined the campaign’s objectives in a statement on Tuesday. The campaign will target students, parents, and educational institutions, delivering safety messages through various media channels including print, audio, and digital platforms, as well as direct communication.

The initiative encompasses multiple themes prioritized for their relevance to current security and social concerns. Activities planned include meetings, lectures, and workshops conducted in collaboration with relevant authorities to engage the target groups effectively.

A key focus of the campaign addresses juveniles, aligning with the Juvenile Protection Law’s provisions concerning the rights and responsibilities of young people and their families. Efforts will concentrate on preventing first-time drug use by educating students and families on the dangers associated with narcotics, tactics employed by traffickers, and the pressures that may lead to substance abuse. The campaign also emphasizes the importance of family dialogue, early detection of drug use, and access to treatment services, highlighting the updated Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Additional themes cover the protection of personal data, combating fraud and extortion, and raising public awareness about the Cybercrime Law. The campaign also seeks to safeguard society against extremist ideologies and hate speech, promote moderation and patriotism, and encourage citizens to rely on official sources for information.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the campaign throughout the academic year, aiming to foster a safer and more informed community.
