Saeed bin Abdullah al-Suwaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice and chairman of the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law as well as the Arab Permanent Committee for International Humanitarian Law, met with Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy during a workshop held in Cairo. The event focused on the national implementation of international humanitarian law.
The officials reviewed the work programme of the Arab Permanent Committee for International Humanitarian Law and discussed strategies to bolster the committee’s role across the region. Their conversation emphasized promoting the principles and culture of international humanitarian law and enhancing awareness of its provisions among Arab states.
Both parties highlighted the importance of supporting Arab countries in adopting and enforcing international humanitarian law within their domestic legal frameworks. The meeting underscored ongoing efforts to strengthen regional cooperation on legal measures that govern humanitarian conduct during conflicts.
