Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality (MoM) has launched a series of initiatives to promote environmental awareness and public cleanliness in observance of World Cleanup Day 2026. The activities, running from September 13 to 19, involve cooperation between government bodies, private-sector organizations, volunteers, and community members.

Central to the ministry’s efforts, the Public Cleanliness Department hosted an event that engaged over 300 students from various educational levels. The program included interactive workshops, cultural competitions, and the distribution of gifts, with a focus on educating participants about waste sorting and recycling practices.

In addition, Al Dhaayen and Al Rayyan municipalities partnered with the Public Cleanliness Department to conduct beach-cleaning campaigns at Semaisma and Abu Samra beaches. These cleanups aim to highlight the significance of maintaining cleanliness in recreational and natural spaces.

Officials emphasized that the weeklong activities are designed to foster a sense of community responsibility while encouraging public participation in environmental preservation. The ministry noted that promoting sustainable habits and protecting natural resources are key goals of the World Cleanup Day initiatives.
