The Ministry of Transport (MoT) in Qatar announced the upcoming second edition of the Autonomous e-Mobility Forum (AEMOB), set to take place on September 7-8, 2026, at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC). Held under the patronage of Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed al-Thani, the event aims to highlight advancements in autonomous and electric mobility technologies while fostering dialogue among international and regional experts.
The forum will feature more than 40 speakers from government, industry, academia, and research sectors, engaging in over 50 keynote sessions and panel discussions across 10 dedicated tracks. These sessions will cover a broad range of topics such as technology development, policy and regulation, sustainability, infrastructure, public acceptance, and real-world applications of autonomous and electric vehicles. An exhibition area with over 20 spaces will showcase innovations in autonomous vehicles, electric mobility solutions, and smart infrastructure.
According to Eng. Abdullah Saif al-Sulaiti, Assistant Undersecretary for Land Transport Affairs, Qatar’s transportation sector has made significant progress driven by the MoT’s commitment to smart and sustainable systems that integrate artificial intelligence (AI). He emphasized that electric transportation and autonomous vehicles have become central priorities within the ministry’s strategy, citing the launch of Qatar’s Autonomous Vehicles Strategy and ongoing electric robotaxi pilot phases. These trials aim to test operational and safety aspects as part of a broader vision to transition the country’s public transit fleet to 100% electric by 2030. Currently, over 70% of Qatar’s public transit is electric, supported by infrastructure modernization efforts to facilitate this shift.
The forum also serves as a platform for advancing national goals in sustainable mobility, with representatives from key entities such as Qatar Railways Company participating. Eng. Ahmed Mohammed al-Saleh, chief of service delivery at Qatar Railways, highlighted the roles of the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram in contributing to environmentally friendly transport within the country.
In addition to the conference and exhibition, the event will include a follow-up Ecosystem Tour on September 9 and community activities like an SME Competition, Startup Showcase, and 3-Minute Thesis Challenge. These programs aim to engage entrepreneurs, startups, students, and emerging innovators, providing opportunities to contribute to the mobility sector’s development.
Supported by more than 20 regional partners and sponsors, the 2026 edition of AEMOB builds on its inaugural 2024 forum by expanding its scope and reinforcing Qatar’s position as a regional hub for autonomous and electric mobility innovation.
