Malaysian motorcycle racer Qabil Irfan sustained a broken leg during a free practice session for the Moto4 European Cup at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, Spain, on Friday. The 14-year-old rider crashed while navigating Turn 5 in the fifth round of the championship when the rider behind him was unable to avoid a collision, striking Qabil’s left leg.

The practice session was immediately halted as medical personnel attended to Qabil at the scene. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where imaging confirmed fractures to both the tibia and fibula in his left leg. Qabil subsequently underwent surgery to address the injuries and remains hospitalized under close medical supervision.

Qabil’s father, along with representatives from MLAV Racing and ZK Racing, as well as Moto3 rider Hakim Danish, have been present at the hospital to support him throughout his treatment. Both racing teams are maintaining active communication to manage his recovery process and ensure all necessary care is provided.

The Moto4 European Cup, which includes seven rounds this season, has been disrupted for Qabil due to the injury. His teams expressed wishes for his strength during recovery and hope for a full and swift return to racing. Further updates on his condition and plans for repatriation to Malaysia will be provided as his medical team allows.
