Sri Lanka is considering hosting the Miss Universe 2027 pageant, following a recent meeting between Olivia Quido-Co, Vice President for Global Partnerships of the Miss Universe Organisation, and Sri Lanka’s Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath. The discussions focused on the potential benefits and logistics of bringing the internationally recognized event to the country.
Olivia Quido-Co, a Filipino-American entrepreneur and skincare expert, engaged with Minister Herath to explore how hosting the pageant could enhance Sri Lanka’s global profile. The event’s global reach is seen as a valuable opportunity to attract international visitors and boost multiple sectors, including tourism, hospitality, aviation, fashion, events, and retail.
Caroline Jurie, Mrs. World 2020 and the organizer of the meeting, highlighted the significance of the event in generating worldwide visibility for the nation. She noted that Miss Universe could provide extensive international media coverage and digital exposure, positioning Sri Lanka on a broad global stage.
Minister Herath emphasized Sri Lanka’s eagerness to host major international occasions that garner widespread attention, recognizing the potential economic and cultural benefits such events can offer.
The proposal remains under active consideration as discussions continue regarding the feasibility and arrangements required to bring Miss Universe 2027 to Sri Lanka.
