Authorities in San Bernardino County have confirmed the discovery of a deceased woman who had been reported missing more than a month earlier. The remains of Loretta Pilitsis, 55, were found in a desert area near her home in Pinon Hills on the evening of June 30.

Deputies responded to the 10600 block of Oasis Road at approximately 8 p.m. after a member of the public discovered the body, according to a statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. The location is in close proximity to where Pilitsis was last seen.

Pilitsis was reported missing on May 25 after deputies received a call from the 900 block of Locust Road. At that time, officials learned she had left her residence on foot and had not been seen since. An extensive search was conducted immediately following the report. The effort involved K-9 units and aerial support but did not yield any leads.

Authorities have not released details regarding the cause or manner of Pilitsis’s death. The investigation remains open, and officials are asking anyone with relevant information to contact the Specialized Investigations Division at (909) 890-4904 or send a text message with the word “REPORT” to (844) 909-3006.
