A Missouri woman and her teenage daughter were fatally shot by their elderly neighbor following a dispute over noise outside their home, authorities reported. The incident occurred on the evening of July 25 in House Springs, Missouri.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Jessica Lashly and her 17-year-old daughter, Jersey Greer, were confronted by 73-year-old Robert Winkelman near their residence at approximately 8:30 p.m. The encounter escalated, resulting in Winkelman shooting both Lashly and Greer.

Following the attack, Winkelman reportedly took his own life days later, according to law enforcement officials who have not specified the exact date of his death or the circumstances surrounding it.

Investigators are examining the details surrounding a noise complaint that reportedly led to the confrontation between neighbors. Authorities have not released further information regarding the nature or source of the noise that prompted the dispute.
