Missouri surged to No. 14 in the latest Associated Press college football Top 25 rankings released Sunday following a decisive 45-17 victory over Florida. The win propelled the Tigers up 11 spots from No. 25, marking their highest ranking since October 2025. Meanwhile, Florida dropped eight places to No. 16 after the loss.
Texas maintained its position as the No. 1 team for the fourth consecutive week ahead of Saturday’s Red River Rivalry game against Oklahoma. The Longhorns received 61 of the 70 first-place votes in the media panel, slightly fewer than the previous week. The rest of the top five remained unchanged, with Georgia at No. 2, Notre Dame No. 3, Miami No. 4, and Ohio State No. 5. Georgia earned six first-place votes after a 24-point win over Vanderbilt, while Miami secured two following its 41-13 home win over Clemson.
In the top 10, Alabama and Indiana switched places, with the Hoosiers moving up to No. 7 and receiving one first-place vote. Brigham Young University climbed two spots to No. 8, Mississippi held at No. 9, and Louisiana State University (LSU) moved up one to reach the No. 10 position. LSU beat McNeese State 63-14, racking up 731 yards of total offense, the second-most in school history, with quarterback Sam Leavitt throwing for 173 yards and three touchdowns.
Several other notable performances took place over the weekend. Indiana extended its winning streak to 21 games with a 47-15 victory over Rutgers, marking the longest active streak in the nation. Running back Turbo Richard contributed 204 rushing yards and a touchdown. USC fell one spot to No. 19 despite a win over Washington, and UCLA rose two places to No. 21 after an idle week. Texas Tech secured a 29-7 win over Colorado, intercepting four passes, including a touchdown return by linebacker John Curry.
Missouri’s rise reflected one of the season’s biggest jumps, second only to Florida’s 13-spot increase the previous week. Iowa dropped six places to No. 20 following a 17-point defeat at home to Ohio State. SMU slipped to No. 24 after a narrow home win against Boston College. Pittsburgh earned a ranking debut at No. 25 after a 35-33 win over Virginia Tech, marking their first AP appearance since last November. However, Pittsburgh will be without quarterback Mason Heintschel for the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL. Kentucky, which won in overtime at South Carolina despite erasing a 17-point deficit, fell out of the rankings but remains the highest unranked team receiving votes.
The rankings reflect a mix of shifting momentum and injuries across college football as teams prepare for critical conference matchups in the weeks ahead.
