Qatar’s Ministry of Culture is participating in the 29th Algiers International Book Fair, which opened on October 28 and will continue through November 7. The ministry aims to promote Qatari intellectual and literary works while broadening their visibility at international exhibitions and cultural events.
Jassim Ahmed al-Buainain, Director of the Libraries Department at the Ministry of Culture and Director of the Doha International Book Fair, highlighted that Qatar’s presence at the event demonstrates a commitment to showcasing the nation’s cultural output to wider audiences. The participation provides an opportunity to engage with other cultural institutions and publishers, facilitating the exchange of expertise and fostering partnerships across borders.
The ministry’s pavilion at the book fair draws inspiration from traditional Qatari architecture, reflecting the country’s national identity and architectural heritage. This design approach seeks to emphasize the link between Qatar’s cultural traditions and its contemporary cultural landscape.
Al-Buainain noted that presenting Qatari publications at the fair allows for the introduction of works covering various aspects of local knowledge, literature, and culture. Engaging in such international platforms is viewed as a strategic effort to expand the reach of Qatari publications within overseas markets and cultural networks.
Through its participation, the Ministry of Culture aims to strengthen Qatar’s cultural presence globally and further connect Qatari intellectual contributions with international audiences and institutions.
