Model Shraddha Dubey, a principal suspect in the death of Lucknow businessman Shiva Sharma, was apprehended on Tuesday in Nagpur along with her sister Rashmi Dubey and their driver Danish, Uttar Pradesh Police confirmed. The three had been evading arrest since the case was registered earlier this month.
The Lucknow Police and the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF), in coordination with Nagpur Police, carried out the joint operation leading to their capture. Authorities had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information that could aid in locating each of the accused.
Following her arrest, Shraddha Dubey was taken to Bell Road Police Station in Nagpur, where she was interrogated by officials from both the Uttar Pradesh STF and Nagpur Police. The suspects are currently undergoing procedural legal formalities before they are transported to Lucknow for further investigation regarding Sharma’s death.
The case originated with a formal complaint lodged by Ranjana Sharma at Hazratganj Police Station on October 9. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the businessman’s death and the involvement of the accused.
Additional details have come to light concerning Shraddha Dubey’s movements while she was on the run. Reports indicate that she stayed for nearly a day at a hotel in Taj Nagari Phase-I, Agra. CCTV footage reviewed by authorities reportedly shows a vehicle connected to Dubey arriving at the hotel at approximately 6:33 a.m. on October 17, with a woman believed to be Shraddha entering the premises around 6:53 a.m.
During her period of evasion, Dubey released a video denying any association with influential individuals purportedly linked to the case. Earlier, an audio clip, reportedly capturing her threatening Shiva Sharma, surfaced. In the recording, she allegedly referred to escalating complaints against him to an unidentified ‘sir.’
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the circumstances of Sharma’s death or the contents of the ongoing investigation, citing the sensitivity of the case.
