Qatar’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC), in partnership with Earthna Centre for a Sustainable Future—a member of Qatar Foundation—has announced the upcoming 11th edition of Qatar Sustainability Week (QSW) 2026. The event is scheduled to run from October 31 to November 7, with participation from government bodies, private sector companies, and civil society organizations.
The announcement was made during a press conference on Sunday, where officials outlined the key initiatives and activities planned for this year’s event. These will include specialized programs, community workshops, and corporate sustainability efforts designed to promote environmentally responsible practices throughout the country.
Qatar Sustainability Week seeks to raise public awareness on environmental issues, encourage sustainable lifestyles, and motivate both individuals and institutions to contribute to preserving natural resources. Since its inception in 2016, the campaign has involved more than one million participants across roughly 3,400 events, collaborating with approximately 2,000 partner organizations. It aligns closely with Qatar’s National Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Engineer Ahmed Mohammed Al Sada, assistant undersecretary for Climate Change Affairs at MoECC, emphasized that the week serves as a crucial platform for fostering cooperation among government agencies, the private sector, and civil society. He highlighted the event’s role in facilitating the exchange of environmental knowledge and embedding sustainability principles into both corporate and community practices. Al Sada noted the importance of achieving lasting impacts beyond the designated week to ensure enduring benefits for society and the environment.
Dr. Gonzalo Castro de la Mata, executive director of Earthna, stated that the event focuses on inspiring long-term behavioral changes aligned with Qatar’s National Vision 2030. He pointed to providing individuals and organizations with practical tools aimed at conserving resources and reducing waste as key to building a resilient and sustainable future.
Also present at the press conference were Noor Ali Al Merekhi, director of the Technical Office at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education; Yousef Abdulla Al Meer, executive vice-president of Strategy and Transformation at Doha Bank; and Abdulla Al Hardan, senior director of Health, Safety, and Environment at Qatar Free Zones Authority. Each underscored the collective commitment to advancing Qatar’s sustainability agenda through collaborative actions during Qatar Sustainability Week 2026.
