The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) is set to launch the third edition of its Summer Environmental Club programme from June 21 to July 2. Under the theme “Guardians of the Environment,” the initiative aims to cultivate sustainability awareness among young people aged 11 to 17 by combining theoretical learning with practical application.

Dr. Farhoud Hadi al-Hajri, director of the MoECC’s Public Relations and Communications Department, stated that the programme has reached its full capacity of 20 students, reflecting strong public interest and successful outreach efforts. The ministry views the club as an effective means of fostering environmental responsibility through experiential learning rather than solely relying on traditional media campaigns.

This year’s programme features a comprehensive schedule of specialised workshops, interactive activities, and field visits designed to introduce participants to various aspects of environmental protection and the ministry’s role in conserving Qatar’s natural resources. According to Dr. al-Hajri, the initiative seeks to embed environmental principles into everyday behaviours, promoting the concept that safeguarding the environment is a collective obligation involving both knowledge and commitment.

Building on the achievements of previous editions, the Ministry expects the participants to emerge as advocates of environmental awareness within their families, schools, and wider communities, thereby extending the programme’s impact beyond its direct audience. The Summer Environmental Club aligns with the MoECC’s broader strategy of developing a generation that is informed and actively engaged in addressing environmental challenges.
