The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has wrapped up its 2026 summer centre activities, concluding a month-long programme designed to engage students across Qatar in a wide array of educational and recreational pursuits. The initiative was held at five government school centres and involved collaboration with 22 partner organisations, attracting over 950 male and female students from various age groups.
The closing ceremony was attended by HE the Undersecretary of MoEHE, Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh al-Nuaimi. This year’s activities operated under the theme “Invest Their Summer in Creativity,” offering more than 500 programmes encompassing fields such as culture, arts, creativity and design, sustainability and climate change, Islamic education, science, technology, and artificial intelligence. Additional activities focused on social skills, communication, sports, health and nutrition, cybersecurity, digital solutions, national identity, and educational values.
Fatima Youssef al-Obaidli, assistant director of the ministry’s Department of Schools and Students Affairs, highlighted that the summer centres reflect the ministry’s broader strategy to invest in human capital. She explained that beyond academics, cultivating students’ personalities and skills through varied experiences is a key priority to foster self-confidence and personal development.
Al-Obaidli emphasised that the programme successfully combined educational content with entertainment, nurturing values like social responsibility, national identity, and teamwork. The centres featured a diverse mix of training workshops, interactive sessions, competitions, educational field trips, and community partnerships, all contributing to an enriching environment for participants.
The ministry reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to enhancing these summer initiatives, aiming to expand their scope to better meet both national goals and student aspirations.
Representing the summer centres’ directors, Hessa Lahdan al-Muhanadi, director of Al-Khor Secondary School for Girls Centre, attributed this year’s success to the ministry’s support and the comprehensive efforts of administrative and supervisory teams. She noted that their work created an engaging educational atmosphere conducive to learning and creativity.
Al-Muhanadi also pointed to the growing participation rates as evidence of parental trust and the positive influence these programmes have on the student community.
