Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior reported the dismantling of a clandestine drug manufacturing operation and the arrest of a forgery ring in separate actions as part of ongoing efforts to combat organized crime and protect public security.
On Saturday, officers from the General Department for Drug Control apprehended two stateless residents suspected of running a secret facility producing Captagon, a psychotropic substance. The suspects were arrested following extensive surveillance and intelligence work that led authorities to a livestock farm in the Kabd area, which had been converted into a covert manufacturing site. During the raid, security personnel seized around 100,000 Captagon pills and five kilograms of Captagon powder, with an estimated street value exceeding 500,000 Kuwaiti dinars (approximately $1.63 million). The suspects reportedly resisted arrest but were ultimately detained. Investigators also recovered equipment including a tablet-pressing machine, a precision scale, packaging materials, and other drug production paraphernalia. The suspects admitted to hiding additional quantities of finished tablets, which were later dug up by security forces after being buried underground.
In a separate operation, the Residency Affairs Investigations Department arrested five Bangladeshi nationals accused of producing and distributing counterfeit government revenue stamps. The suspects allegedly fabricated KD 5 and KD 10 stamps using stolen official stamp paper rolls, which investigations indicated had been taken from a hospital. These forged stamps were sold at discounted prices to expatriates and private companies across various locations, including hospitals. Authorities confiscated a laptop, printer, and rolls of special stamp paper used to create the counterfeit products during search operations.
All individuals apprehended in both cases have been referred to the relevant legal authorities alongside the seized materials. The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing drug traffickers, forgers, and others who threaten public safety or misuse public funds, emphasizing that strict legal measures will apply to all offenders.
