The Ministry of Justice, through its Arbitration Affairs Department, convened the sixth session of the Arbitration Dialogue Forum on Thursday, aiming to address current challenges in dispute resolution and advance arbitration practices in Qatar. The event, organized in partnership with the Qatari Association of Arbitrators and Experts, focused on the theme “Deconstructing Obstacles and Crafting Solutions.”
During the forum, participants engaged in an interactive panel discussion that explored key operational hurdles faced by arbitrators, while exchanging technical expertise and practical approaches to improve the dispute resolution framework. The dialogue sought to promote professional development and foster collaborative efforts among arbitration practitioners.
Dr. Maryam Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, director of the Arbitration Affairs Department, underscored the importance of enhancing Qatar’s national dispute resolution ecosystem. Moderated by arbitration expert Aisha Ali Al Nuaimi, the session highlighted several strategic priorities, including the adoption of advanced digital technologies to support alternative dispute resolution processes.
Dr. Al Kuwari also emphasized the need to develop robust mechanisms for international and cross-border enforcement of arbitration awards. Additionally, she called for the establishment of standardized national criteria for the qualification and accreditation of arbitrators. These initiatives aim to increase professional efficiency within the arbitration sector and position Qatar as a regional hub for dispute resolution.
The forum is part of a series of specialized events jointly organized by the Qatari Association of Arbitrators and Experts and the Ministry of Justice. These programs reflect a shared institutional commitment to advancing professional standards, educational development, and sectoral growth in arbitration.
