The Ministry of Labour (MoL) has launched the "Maharat 2026" Summer Training Programme aimed at enhancing the skills and employability of Qatari students. The initiative, introduced on July 11, is part of the ministry’s broader human capital development strategies and the Nationalisation Plan for Jobs in the Private Sector, known as "Empowering Qatar."

Targeted at Qatari secondary and university students, as well as children of Qatari women, the programme offers practical training opportunities across a range of economic sectors. These include financial services, logistics, manufacturing, construction, education, tourism, food and agriculture, information technology and digital services, and healthcare. Participation was open to those who registered through the Ministry’s website.

Through this summer programme, the Ministry of Labour seeks to provide participants with hands-on experience and improve their professional readiness for the labor market. The training is designed to familiarize students with various career paths, allowing them to evaluate how their skills align with industry demands. This exposure supports better-informed academic and career decisions, facilitating a smoother transition from education to employment.

The "Maharat 2026" programme underscores the ministry’s commitment to collaborating with private sector partners to develop qualified Qatari national talent. By creating training environments consistent with labor market needs, the initiative promotes a culture of work, responsibility, and productivity among younger generations.

These efforts align with the goals set out in Qatar National Vision 2030, emphasizing the sustainable nationalisation of the workforce and preparing young Qataris for specialized roles across diverse sectors. The programme’s focus on practical experience and professional development aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Qatar’s national economy while contributing to the country’s ongoing development objectives.
