Chicago established an early advantage, scoring 33 points in the first quarter and sinking five three-pointers, which helped build a 15-point lead. The Sky extended their lead to 48-38 by halftime. The Sparks were able to rally during the middle portion of the game, opening the third quarter with a 10-2 run, but were ultimately undone by a strong Chicago finish. The Sky scored 34 points in the fourth quarter, effectively closing out the contest.

Dearica Hamby was the standout performer for Los Angeles, leading the team with 22 points and 14 rebounds and recording her fifth double-double of the season. Despite her efforts, the Sparks struggled defensively during key stretches, particularly in the opening and closing quarters.

Sparks head coach Lynne Roberts attributed the early and late lapses to a lack of focus and reactionary play. “In the first quarter, we came out a little flat,” Roberts said. “I don’t know why. We were just reacting to everything, and I felt like the fourth quarter was a little bit of that. We had a couple bad minutes stretch where they went on a run, and then defensively just kind of died in the fourth.”

The Sky improved to 12-19 with the victory.
