Authorities in Monterey County, California, have arrested a man in connection with a series of vandalism acts targeting surveillance cameras across the region. Marcus Bee, 40, from Pismo Beach in neighboring San Luis Obispo County, was taken into custody on suspicion of felony vandalism after allegedly damaging multiple cameras.

According to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, Bee is accused of pulling down and running over three surveillance cameras located in the communities of Lockwood and Bradley. Additional damage was reported to two cameras along Del Monte Boulevard in Seaside. The incidents have resulted in several thousand dollars in damages.

Bee was booked and held on a $30,000 bail. Investigators continue to assess the full extent of the damage and are reviewing whether the vandalism was motivated by opposition to the county’s mass surveillance system.

The sheriff’s office emphasized the importance of the camera network in public safety and crime prevention while urging the community to report any further vandalism. No additional suspects have been named in the ongoing investigation.
