Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi will face trial on charges of rape following an unsuccessful appeal to dismiss the case. The Paris Saint-Germain defender is accused of sexually assaulting a 24-year-old woman at his residence in France in 2023.

The investigation into the allegations commenced in March 2023, and a French judge ruled in February 2026 that the case should proceed to trial. Hakimi has maintained his innocence throughout the legal process, denying all accusations against him.

Despite the pending legal proceedings, Hakimi participated in both of Morocco's matches at the recent World Cup. The case remains under judicial review as the trial date approaches.
