KUWAIT CITY — Officials from the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Retired Officers Association have met to discuss collaboration on a new community security initiative titled the “National Project for Community Protection.” The meeting took place on July 21 and involved key representatives from both sides aiming to establish a cooperative framework for the project's implementation.

Aisha Al-Baijan, Director of the Civil Society Organizations Department at the Ministry of Social Affairs, received the delegation led by retired Major General Faisal Al-Jazzaf. Other members of the association’s delegation included retired Major General Engineer Tariq Al-Dousari, retired Major General Bader Al-Ghadhouri, and retired Major General Dr. Hussein Bin Tafla Al-Ajmi. Representatives from the ministry, Badour Bounashi and Alia Al-Aoun, also participated in the discussions.

The project, proposed by the Retired Officers Association, calls for the ministry’s sponsorship and oversight to work jointly in reinforcing community security measures. It aims to foster enhanced cooperation among various state institutions to counteract negative social phenomena and support protective efforts for families, children, and youth.

Unlike conventional awareness campaigns, the association described the initiative as a comprehensive national strategy that integrates scientific approaches, training programs, and partnerships with various institutions. Its focus is on creating a sustainable framework that promotes social values and community-based prevention efforts.

Al-Baijan expressed strong support for the project during the meeting, underscoring the collective responsibility of society to safeguard its future. She emphasized the necessity of reinforcing coordination mechanisms to back national projects that aim to boost social cohesion and encourage both prevention and social responsibility.

Both parties agreed that the foundation of a secure society relies on prevention, public awareness, human development, and the concerted efforts of government entities and civil society organizations. The collaboration marks a step towards deeper integration of governmental and community actions to address social challenges in Kuwait.
