A 5-year-old girl was found dead in her Queens home Wednesday evening after her mother called 911 and confessed to killing her daughter, according to police sources. Authorities responded to the residence near 110th Street and 95th Avenue in Richmond Hill at approximately 6:55 p.m., where they discovered Fabiana Cabello unconscious and bleeding from her mouth and nose.

Fabiana was transported to Jamaica Hospital but was later pronounced dead. Her mother, who is in her 30s and has a documented history of mental health issues, was hospitalized on Thursday for psychiatric evaluation. Police indicated she may face criminal charges related to Fabiana’s death once medical professionals clear her, although the specific charges have not yet been determined.

Outside the family home on Thursday, Fabiana’s father and the mother’s former partner, Kuldeep Singh, expressed shock at the incident. Singh, 36, an Uber driver, described the mother as loving and attentive, noting he never suspected she could harm their daughter. He recounted how the mother frequently checked in on Fabiana when the child was in his care, and how Fabiana remained cheerful when he last saw her two weeks ago.

Singh said he maintained daily phone contact with Fabiana, whom he affectionately called “Fabi,” and shared a voice message from the girl in which she greeted him warmly. He added that Fabiana had recently started kindergarten, and he had provided new clothes and school supplies for her.

The father acknowledged challenges in co-parenting, citing his demanding work schedule as a barrier to more frequent visits. He recounted a recent conversation in which Fabiana’s mother asked him to take their daughter for a few days, but he was unable to comply due to work commitments.

A neighbor, Luis Salomon Perez, 60, who lives nearby, described Fabiana as a “good girl” who often played with his grandchildren. Perez noted that the mother’s behavior had changed noticeably about six months ago, when she stopped leaving the home to take Fabiana to school or socialize outside.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Fabiana’s death as the community grapples with the tragedy.
