Glenfiddich and the Aston Martin Formula One Team have unveiled their latest collaborative single malt whisky: The Glenfiddich & Aston Martin Formula One Team 16-Year-Old Limited-Edition Release No.2. This marks the second annual release stemming from the partnership between the renowned Scotch whisky producer and the Formula One racing outfit.
The new expression reflects a shared philosophy between Glenfiddich’s malt master Brian Kinsman and Aston Martin’s managing technical partner Adrian Newey: exceptional performance is often defined by unseen details working in harmony beneath the surface. Kinsman emphasized that, much like the intricate engineering decisions behind each Formula One car, the whisky’s character emerges through a careful combination of subtle complexities.
This limited edition is the result of a maturation process involving five distinct types of casks, each contributing specific notes and textures to the final blend. Kinsman described the process as one of balance and instinctive refinement, aimed at producing a whisky with depth and harmony rather than focusing on individual elements alone.
The 43% ABV whisky opens with aromas of rich stewed fruits and floral top notes. The palate is noted for its smooth, creamy texture, featuring buttery toffee sweetness complemented by hints of caramelized cane sugar. Dry oak tannins provide a counterbalance, leading to a lingering, oaky-sweet finish.
To coincide with the launch in Malaysia, Glenfiddich is hosting an immersive pop-up event running from October 2 to 11 at Jaya Grocer in The Gardens Mall, Kuala Lumpur. Visitors can engage with an interactive driving simulator reflecting the precision and craftsmanship shared by both whisky making and Formula One engineering. The event also offers tastings of the new limited release.
The Glenfiddich & Aston Martin Formula One Team 16-Year-Old Limited-Edition Release No.2 is available through selected retail outlets nationwide, including Hank’s, The Chamber, and Cellar 18, while supplies last.
