Several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed between Omani companies and Kazakh institutions following a series of business-to-business (B2B) meetings held on Wednesday in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The events were organized by Oman’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion through its export promotion arm, “Oman Exports,” as part of a trade mission involving 22 Omani companies.
The meetings saw participation from approximately 100 to 150 Kazakh companies and business leaders, facilitating direct commercial discussions focused on expanding bilateral trade, investment cooperation, and the introduction of Omani products into Kazakhstan and broader Central Asian markets. Key sectors highlighted during the talks included food industries, technology, innovation, pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, building materials, and petrochemical products.
Shaikh Dr. Salah bin Salim Ja’boob, Oman’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan, described the gatherings as an extension of the economic objectives stemming from a recent Royal Visit, aiming to convert diplomatic engagement into concrete economic and commercial outcomes. He noted that the B2B sessions provided a platform to enhance communication between the two countries' business communities and identify promising opportunities across multiple sectors.
Mohammed bin Khalaf al Hamdani, Senior Export Promotion Specialist at Oman’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, emphasized that the meetings enabled Omani exporters to engage directly with potential Kazakh importers, distributors, and partners. He stressed the importance of understanding market requirements and exploring opportunities for joint manufacturing and sustainable economic partnerships, which he said could contribute to increasing the volume and diversification of Oman’s non-oil exports.
One notable MoU was signed between the Omani company Four Dimensions and the Kazakh group Sherstnev to collaborate in the food processing sector, specifically on mango fruits cultivated at Four Dimensions’ farms in Oman. This agreement exemplifies broader efforts to enhance trade channels and strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
Officials also highlighted Kazakhstan’s strategic position as a gateway to Central Asian markets, underlining its potential as a key destination for Omani exports. The Ministry of Commerce indicated that “Oman Exports” will continue to monitor and support the progress of these commercial dialogues with the goal of transforming discussions into formal contracts and enhancing the presence of Omani products abroad.
