Marks & Spencer has reintroduced four chocolate bars originally popular in the 1980s, packaging them under the vintage St Michael brand as part of a broader retro product trend. The revived lineup includes Sparks, Jet, Now!, and Coconut Grove bars, each recreated with their distinctive flavors and original packaging designs.
Sparks features a combination of nougat and caramel, while Jet blends nougat, peanuts, and caramel. Now! is filled with biscuit and caramel, and Coconut Grove offers a coconut center. The move is intended to evoke nostalgia among consumers familiar with these products from their childhood, as well as to introduce the bars to a new generation.
This relaunch follows a broader resurgence of 1980s-themed products across several sectors. Adidas, for example, incorporated its classic Trefoil logo during the recent World Cup, while toy manufacturer Hasbro has reissued its Furby toy. Retailers such as Waitrose have also reported increased demand for 1980s-era dinner-party staples. M&S is aiming to build on the positive reception it experienced last year when it brought back its Take 4 wafer bar, another nostalgic item.
A spokesperson for Marks & Spencer commented that the revivals provide customers with the opportunity to rediscover these nostalgic treats or try them for the first time. The initiative appears to be part of a wider marketing strategy leveraging consumers' interest in retro and heritage brands. The reintroduced chocolates are now available in M&S stores nationwide.
