The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has issued more than 140,000 new electricity connections in the Marathwada region from April 2025 through March 31, 2026. This effort spans all consumer categories across the region’s eight districts, according to the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Regional Office.
MSEDCL leadership, including Chairman and Managing Director Lokesh Chandra and Joint Managing Director Aditya Jivane, have directed field offices to accelerate the processing of new connection applications. Following an application, MSEDCL staff conduct site inspections to assess applicable fees. Connections are prioritized for areas with existing infrastructure, with urban consumers receiving connections within 24 hours after payment and rural consumers within 48 hours.
To qualify for a new electricity connection, applicants must ensure there are no outstanding dues or arrears on previous bills for the premises in question, and no pending penalties related to electricity theft. MSEDCL has also cautioned applicants against using brokers or intermediaries, emphasizing that no financial transactions should be conducted outside official channels.
Jivane encouraged consumers to submit their applications and required documentation directly at the nearest MSEDCL office to ensure a smooth and legitimate process.
