MSG Networks and YES Network announced a new partnership with streaming service DAZN that will make DAZN the exclusive streaming provider for their regional sports content beginning in the 2026-27 NBA and NHL seasons. The agreement, disclosed Wednesday, marks a significant shift for both regional sports networks as they move away from the Gotham Sports App, their prior direct-to-consumer platform.
Under the deal, live streams of games featuring the New York Yankees, New York Knicks, New York Rangers, New York Islanders, Brooklyn Nets, New Jersey Devils, and Buffalo Sabres will be available on DAZN. Additionally, subscribers will have access to 24/7 streaming of MSG, MSG Sportsnet, and YES Network channels, along with on-demand content.
Subscribers within the networks’ respective broadcast areas who currently receive MSG or YES as part of their cable or satellite packages will continue to have access to streaming through DAZN at no additional cost. While specific pricing details were not disclosed at the time of the announcement, a spokesperson for YES Network indicated that the pricing and product offerings at launch will be consistent with current options available via the Gotham Sports App. The Gotham app currently offers a monthly plan at $34.99 and an annual subscription for $299.99, with additional options for single games and day passes.
DAZN, a London-based streaming service that has been expanding its presence in the U.S. sports market, also offers a broader subscription that users can opt into but is not required to access MSG or YES content. The transition away from the Gotham Sports App responds to mixed user feedback since its launch in the fall of 2024. Fans have cited technical issues and glitches with Gotham, while some expressed disappointment or confusion about its discontinuation on social media platforms.
According to Jon Litner, president and CEO of YES Network, the decision to partner with DAZN is strategic, enabling the networks to align with a global streaming leader noted for its expertise and growing footprint. “We want to make sure that we continue to evolve our product,” Litner said, highlighting DAZN’s management team and track record in digital streaming as key factors.
DAZN’s push into U.S. regional sports has included recent deals with multiple NBA teams. Reports indicate the company is nearing exclusive local broadcast rights for several franchises, including the Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, San Antonio Spurs, and Memphis Grizzlies, and has direct-to-consumer agreements with the Orlando Magic and possibly the Charlotte Hornets.
The transition to DAZN will not affect fans’ access during the current baseball season, with YES confirming that Yankees games will remain on the existing app until then. Subscribers presently using Gotham Sports will not experience any interruption during the migration process.
Kevin Marotta, executive vice president of content and marketing at MSG Networks, called DAZN “a premier streaming platform” and expressed enthusiasm about offering MSG content on its technology platform, underscoring the significance of the partnership for the networks’ future digital strategy.
